Week 2 at home
Another week at home. It would be peaceful were it not for neighbours felling a previously protected woodland. Sad too see so many trees destroyed and the habitat of spotted woodpeckers disappear. The roar of the chain saws and wood chipper will pass. The devastation is sadly permanent. We can't halt progress; as an individual citizen I have now power to do so. We will have to consider what we can do in our space to compensate for the horrible destruction.
We are making a couple of deliveries to a farm and health food/wine shop today which feels very positive. We do miss visiting the pubs bars and restaurants we supply. It will be joy to see those familiar faces again. We have slowed production down, making enough to maintain a safe stock level.
Thank fully we are in reasonably good shape and should come through this okay. Being home based we are not in line for a cash grant - as we are not in the business rate schemes - Alison is furloughed, to use the current term, until our customers can reopen their doors and need restocking.
In the meantime we are keeping in touch with them and family. We have elderly relatives and family working in the NHS so it is hard to be free of anxiety. We do what we can keeping busy and enjoying the small things as they arise.
Stay safe and positive
best wishes
